I’m posting this Blog from a laptop in Cornwall as a trial………..being a techno-biff I’m hoping I can proove to myself that it can be done remotely and then I can travel around the world happily in the fullsome knowledge that I can still post them from wherever and keep my web site active. Well that’s the general idea anyway.

I get lots of quests from sources various to improve my SEO………..invariably they all want to charge for this service!! Well between Paul my very able web designer and I we’re managing to be up there or there abouts and with more regular blogs from me that should help a lot………..that’s the plan anyway!!

We’re on a quiet B Road en route to Mortonhampstaead which is another gateway onto the many and varied parts of the National Park……….our B&B overlooks the River Teign at the famous Dunsford Stepping Stones with all bedrooms having a panoramic view of the river and surrounding National Trust Woodland. Orchard Barn is promoting self catering opportunites this year at an extremely reasonable rate……………at £100 per night for the whole house and all facilities for a minimum of 5 nights, this represents a real bargain.

The house was let for both Christmas and New Year……….and the plan is for Lesley and I to do a bit more traveling this year and so we’re promoting self catering via Trip Advisor and other media in order to build in short breaks throughout the year.

So if you’d still like Bed and Breakfast that’s fine, just ring or e-mail and ask and if rooms are available we’ll book you in……………if however you fancy a self catering option anytime over the year then again do contact us and float your prefered dates……….as long as it’s for a minimum of 5 nights we’ll look at it favourably and commensure with a confirmed booking , we’ll plan a short break holiday ourselves. There are just so many places we still want to go and visit, both home and abroad……….and this is a good year to do so.

Self-Catering at Orchard Barn, Dunsford, Dartmoor, Devon, UK

After successfully letting Orchard Barn on a self-catering basis a number of times last year including a week before Christmas and the New Year, Lesley and I have decided to promote the scheme more often this  year.

Basically the whole house, attached Cider Barn and main gardens will be available for let on a self-catering basis over selected days/weeks when we plan to be either away elsewhere in the caravan or on holiday abroad.

The house will be fully furnished and equipped as any normal home, sleeping 6 (rising to 8 with inflatables for children as required) with all 4 Bedrooms fully made up with fresh flowers throughout…………a handy comlimentary ‘Welcome Pack’  in the fridge, access and use of washing machine,  phone, computer, broadband wifi, iPod, Sterio system, Freeserve HD TV and CD/Video……………..BarBQ in the Summer, logs aplenty in the winter, use of the garden furniture, sofas in the Cider Barn and everything you would normally expect in a comfortable family home will remain in situ for your usage.

Prices for 2010 Self Catering holidays are:

A £200 deposit cheque will secure your booking and full payment will be sought 2 weeks prior to your stay. On arrival the deposit cheque then becomes the damage and breakage cheque and will be retained (uncashed) at the start of your holiday and returned in full (or part thereof) on completion.

We”ve never had a  problem to date and  our  guests have been thoughtful and careful of Orchard Barn………….however it’s worth gently pointing out that Guests are expected to be respectful of  our home and leave it as they find it – clean and tidy throughout.
